Wallhope Farm is both a retreat and a busy farming hub

Wallhope Farm

Right on the edge of the Wye Valley, less than 4 miles from Chepstow is Wallhope Farm. Our working dairy farm is hidden away overlooking the River Severn. Surrounded by miles of countryside and farmland criss-crossed with walking routes it really is in the heart of farming country. Home to over 200 dairy cows who spend their days in this idyllic location covering 200 acres, Wallhope Farm is both a retreat and a busy farming hub.

Not only does the farm produce fresh, non-homogenised, pasteirised whole milk but there is also an on-site vending facility in our MOO HQ offering delicious milk and 8 flavours of milkshake to purchase on site. We are also delighted to announce, that our lovely gelato, made here on the farm, is now available alongside our other self-serve offerings plus the new addition of our Gelato Parlour where you can enjoy our small batch gelato, overlooking the Severn Estuary. Our gelato comes in 7 of your favourite flavours all year round, with guest flavours and sorbets popping up from time to time: look out for these tasty seasonal choices on our socials!

For those looking for a relaxing retreat, there is also self-catering accommodation on the farm, the ‘retreat’ and the ‘nook’ offer a peaceful getaway, surrounded by amazing views - owner’s Sarah and Paul work hard to supply the highest quality in all areas of their farming business.

Paul’s family have been here for over 60 years after his grandfather Edgar and father Gordon first bought it back in 1964. Wallhope Farm passed to Paul & Sarah when they purchased the farm in 2022. Living in the Gothic Victorian farmhouse which dates back to 1891, they have fallen in love with rural life here. The couple are passionate about diversifying the farm’s offerings and building a successful local business which creates jobs and serves the community.

A real home from home

You can make this farm your home from home for a few days or weeks by staying at Wallhope Retreat: This two-bedroom cottage is light and bright with the added luxury of a hot tub looking out across the river and miles beyond or The Nook: The Nook offers pure, cosy bliss — the perfect little hideaway for couples or solo escapes. Step inside and you’ll find a charming, light-filled living space where a snug sofa invites you to curl up with a good book or unwind after a day of exploring.

You will even be greeted by some incredible locally made Wallhope Farm milk when you arrive. Paul & Sarah have made the farm a really comfortable and welcoming getaway location.

While here you can arrange for a farm tour with Paul when work allows. Find out more about the daily life of a dairy farm and the hard work that goes into keeping it going. Meet the animals and see the pasteurisation process. Paul & Sarah can also point you in the direction of all the walking trails that run through the farmland. Offa’s Dyke, the Gloucestershire Way and the Wye Valley Greenway all pass through and are great ways to get out into the countryside and explore further afield.

WALLHOPE FARM’S RETREAT & NOOK

  • First visit to Wallhope, and it was just a quick one. Their gelato was absolutely lush, and decently priced. I had strawberry & chocolate, and they tasted amazing! 7 flavours out today, and all seemed very popular! We'll definitely be back! Looking forward to the burgers, when that opens!

  • What a beautiful morning out. The kiddos loved exploring the sunflower field, finding their way through the maze and reading all the wonderful facts that are displayed around. We got to greet the friendly cows and then finished the trip off with some of the absolutely delicious ice-cream. I can personally recommend the lime and basil sorbet on a hot day, it was so refreshing. All the staff we met were super helpful and very friendly. We will definitely be back for both sunflowers and milkshakes.

  • Went here today after a recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Great selection of flavours and the prices are excellent. Waffle or tubs available and about 10 flavours to choose from. There is also a place to get fresh milk from the vending machine. You can also buy tubs of your favourite flavours to take away. Fantastic view of the estuary and Severn bridges. The guy who served us was really friendly and welcoming. Looking forward to going back soon.

  • Lovely dairy farm run by a friendly family. They have recently opened to the public and told us about the history of the farm and their plans for the future. We were able to pick our pumpkins from a tidy field. Lovely view to sit and enjoy their vending machine milk and milkshakes or home made gelato or sorbets. I had the orange, honey and rosemary sorbet which was amazing, and the white marshmallow milkshake which was very tasty. It's family friendly and a very enjoyable place to visit. I look forward to revisiting.

  • What a brilliant place. After searching for somewhere to meet friends for pumpkin picking, Wallhope Farm came up. We were greeted by a lovely gentleman who had a good chat with my partner and was great with the children. Our children really enjoyed the experience, even if it did rain for some of it. We enjoyed a milkshake which was delicious in the Cafe area. Would highly recommend. We hope to be back for the next event.

  • An absolutely fantastic local gem. Beautiful location with fresh milk from the vending machine as well as delicious homemade ice cream. We were fortunate today to meet the very friendly lady behind the operation and had an ice cream in the sun from their new ice cream trailer. We will certainly be returning and will be highly recommending to friends and family.

  • My first visit to Wallhope farm for some fresh milk & chocolate milkshake from the MOO HQ self serve vending machines. A small, independent, family run farm set in picturesque countryside. Hands down, the best milk Ive ever had & the Milkshake was divine! I highly recommend you visit, enjoy the beautiful views & say hi to the gorgeous cows.

  • Absolutely LOVED Moo HQ. We stopped off to get some locally sourced milk and wow what a treat! We also tried a chocolate fudge brownie shake with the syrup machine that was available. We love supporting local business and this was such a great little experience! Will definitely come back and try the ice creams in the summer!
